Tim’s Personal Statement on Conducting Weddings:
Because I believe that Marriage has the capacity to enhance life beyond any other single human endeavor, I approach weddings with enthusiasm and with positive expectations for the couple, especially if they have some depth of understanding about themselves as individuals as they enter into marriage. I seek to bring a professional, yet warm and friendly demeanor to each ceremony. I make it my aim to connect with both the couple and their guests in such a way that there is a real sense of inclusion and community at the ceremony. My ceremonies are characterized by moments of humor and fun, along with a sense of dignity and honor. Beyond this I provide a non-anxious presence during the rehearsal and the wedding as I seek to enable an atmosphere of peacefulness, happiness and confidence.

I meet with each couple at least twice (if possible) prior to their wedding. The first one-hour appointment is to plan the wedding. The second appointment is to review the wedding plan and then have a three-way, relaxed conversation about relationships and marriage based on a brief questionnaire, which the couple fills out individually and separately.

I typically perform what may be characterized as an informal, spiritually focused wedding ceremony based upon established traditions but without religious formalism, unless requested. I also take pleasure in adapting this ceremony to meet the needs of each couple that I work with as together we seek to plan a meaningful and memorable occasion.
